Here in the airport in DC, Obama and McCain souvenirs are on sale – T-shirts , mugs, stickers, figurines. There’s an odd cardboard cut-out of McCain outside the store I passed. I hope it isn’t life-size: if it is, McCain may be too small to be president.

I’m in the big, crowded RCC at present, enjoying the faint Internet signal, and free cheese and crackers. The man sitting next to me on the flight from New Orleans snored the whole way. (And no, it was not T. Middy. He’s not flying until next week.) 

In Iowa City, the river is rising, People are sandbagging along the rims of campus and preparing for evacuation; water has crested the Coralville dam. Stay safe, everyone.
